Bay to Breakers Sunday May 16th The day didn't get off to a very good start... our chartered bus broke down on the way to pick us up. Fortunately our meeting place was Lafayette BART so it wasn't a big problem. The red faced Queen (and very mad wife of bus driver) offered to pay for BART tickets for everyone. Ha Ha Ha... BART was free from Lafayette!!!! The starting line was the usual Bay to Breakers chaos with 60,000 people tossing balloons, tortillas and questionable objects throughout the first couple of blocks. Our red hatters managed to slip/slide our way through and stick together for a few blocks before we split into several small groups. We ALL made, over 7 miles, it to the end!!!! Most of us elected to skip Footstock and had a great time at a luau behind the Beach Chalet. We feasted on roasted pig sandwiches, corn on the cob and big green apples double dipped in caramel and chocolate. Even though the sign near the finish line claimed that we had only burned 450 calories, we figured we deserved the treats anyway. Oh, and we also deserved the giant cookies and brownie bites from Safeway. The chartered bus did show up for our return trip and took us on a brief city tour. It seemed to me most of the ladies were dozing off but I did hear a few giggles at some of those 40 year old bus driver jokes. One confession now from the Queen: I only took half a dozen pictures. They are on a disposable camera. I'm not sure if they are printable... those darn naked people kept getting in the way. Will finish up the roll at picnic next Saturday and try to find a place that prints R rated pictures. The Queen of the RHS Molls has spoken.
