Two Queens at Golden Gate Fields on Saturday, Nov 5th. No, they did not win. But, it was a beautiful crisp fall day... a good day to be at the races with the Uppity Ladies of Pinole. The Queen of the RHS Molls has spoken. Saturday, October 29, 2005

Razzle Dazzle 2005 We didn't stop from Friday Denial Night through the Saturday Brunch Cruise, Dinner and Gong Show and finally our Sunday PJ Breakfast. Before we knew it the weekend was over and we were back on track... well almost, after a brief delay. See the rest of the pictures here. The Queen of the RHS Molls has spoken. Hats Off for the Follies! Never mind the hat hair. Notice the empty seats. Those could have been yours. What you missed: The Molls who went to Santa Cruz for the weekend enjoyed the show, ate great food, shopped, cruised the wharf and were lulled to sleep all cozied up in new pillow topped beads at the Coast Santa Cruz Hotel to the tune of ocean waves and sealions. Overheard at the hat store, "oh those are the ladies with the disposable income." Overheard on a street corner, "I heard you have to be nominated to join that society." Anyone want to come out a help us challenge those statements? More pictures are in the September 2005 album. The Queen of the RHS Molls has spoken. Sunday, September 11, 2005
The RHS Molls gathered with several other red hat chapters for a Victorian Afternoon Tea in honor of Ruth Quayle Boone. The event sponsored by the San Ramon Historical Foundation and City of San Ramon began with a delicious tea, followed by a "Goodwill Bags" vintage fashion show, and raffle for prize baskets from "The Basket Lady." Here the Queen is trying to convince the 1st prize children's costume winner that she might have a future as RHS Molls Queen. View more pictures in our Sept 2005 album. Several of the Molls are now well versed on Taking Tea in the English Manner thanks to Jeanette and Kathy for arranging our lessons today with Susan Leech at Orinda Village Antiques. The day was delightful complete with the charming atmosphere, delicious food, a well taught lesson and of course the Moll friendships. How to brew that perfect pot of tea? Fill the kettle with fresh cold water and heat to a rolling boil. Warm the teapot by swirling hot water inside the teapot, then pour it out. Add to the empty teapot 1 teaspoon loose tea per cup. Pour the water from the kettle over the leaves, cover and brew to taste, about 3 to 5 minutes. Use strainer for the leaves and pour into a cup and enjoy! Oh but there is so much more to learn. Check it out! The Queen of the RHS Molls has spoken. Wednesday, July 27, 2005
Hey... we could have danced all night at the Pleasanton Hotel... well from 7:30 to 9:30pm anyway if you wanted to be accompanied by Chris Bradley's Traditional Jazz Band. We will be going back for more of this for sure. See other pictures in the July 2005 album. The Queen of the RHS Molls has spoken. Sunday, July 24, 2005
After a Sunday Brunch of Lox, Cream Cheese, Bagels, Cheese Blintzes w/Strawberry Jam, Cake, Coffee/Tea we were entertained by THE HORN MAN Bill Nemoyten. He played everything from classics to jazz, on 13 horns, traditional and unusual, from 5 continents. See more pictures in the July 2005 photo album . Thanks to our Queen for the Day, Nancy, we all had good company, delicious food, and fantastic entertainment at El Morocco. More pictures are in the July 2005 Album. The Queen of the RHS Molls has spoken. Saturday, July 16, 2005
Here we are after seeing Crowns at the Marines Memorial Theatre. The play was most enjoyable. In spite of the unpleasant, but expected, encounter with Mrs. Dewson, the Molls had a great day. The adventure was complete with tourists taking our pictures, meeting new friends on BART, lunch at Lori's Diner and a brief shopping excursion. By the way, the young lady in black in the first photo is Queen Moll's younger sister. The Queen of the RHS Molls has spoken. Monday, July 04, 2005
3rd of July Benicia Parade Crowds of people showed up in Benicia just to see us in the parade (at least that's what we like to think : ) It was loads of fun and after the parade we enjoyed gigantic portions of food at Randy's. 2 Molls escaped town for a couple of days. They ended up on Sutter Creek where they found the Clothes Mine shop... you must go there if you are looking for red hatter clothing and hats (yes we bought our straw fedoras there... and yes we bought more than one hat each). Be sure stroll across the street to Tea Era. The Royal Tea is excellent. The Queen of the RHS Molls has spoken. Sunday, June 19, 2005

This was a busy weekend for some of the Molls. It all started on Friday night when we joined the Vineyard Vixens for the concert in the Park in Pleasanton with The Cooltones Swing Band. On Saturday twenty two red hatters enjoyed dinner at Basil Leaf Cafe before attending Wigged out in Danville. Marilyn was there to greet us (yes she is one of us...can you recognize who she is). The only problem was that we didn't have time for dessert so a few of us returned to Basil Leaf Cafe. Golden Gate Fields Racetrack was the gathering place on Sunday for more than a hundred red hatters from several bay area chapters. Molls... check the calendar... don't miss out on our fun events coming up! The Queen of the RHS Molls has spoken. Saturday, June 04, 2005
Thanks to Vonne Anne we had a great trip to San Francisco today. First we ate lunch... can you tell where from this picture? A tourist stopped us for a photo for his wife in Florida who also happens to be a red hatter. We asked him to take one with our camera too. Then we enjoyed Tea at Five at the Marine's Memorial Theatre. Yes, we all removed our hats so the people behind could see the show even though we suffered some disparaging remarks from old fuddy duddy in back row. The Queen has Spoken Monday, May 23, 2005
The Molls enjoyed hosting our 3rd Annual Picnic at Martinez Waterfront Park on Saturday May 21st. Warm weather... good food... happy red hatters... a successful raffle... games and prizes... and entertainment. What more could we possibly want? Special thanks goes to The Antioch Strolling Strings for their delightful performance. These energetic kids could use your support and are well worth it. Keep them in mind for your next event: For more pictures of the picnic, visit the Martinez Picnic 2005 album at PictureTrail The Queen of the RHS Molls thanks all who helped and participated. Monday is the 7th Anniversary of the Red Hat Society. The Exalted Queen Sue Ellen has released her latest book, The Red Hat Society's Laugh Lines, just in time for the celebration. Several of us ventured into Barnes and Nobles today for a release party put on by the Black Orchids of Oakland. Ruth Sipper shared some of her poetry with us. Sunday, April 10, 2005
It was a whirlwind of a weekend and the Queen acknowledges that it was one of the best birthdays she has had in years. She very much appreciates the loyalty of her Molls and friends. We started out Saturday morning with a tour of Mountain View Cemetery. The beautiful clear weather was a bonus after a several days of rain. Afterwards huge bowls of ice cream were consumed at Fenton's Creamery. We finished off the weekend with a program of music by the Carillon Handbell Choir and history at St Peter's Chapel, Mare Island and the Daffodil Tea in the Captain's Quarters. For more pictures please visit our album here. The Queen Has Spoken Saturday, March 12, 2005
A few of the Molls joined a couple of Black Orchids for a "Bear Building Workshop." Here we are, all worn out with our the finished products. Sunday, February 27, 2005
We had quite a weekend of adventures. Our trip to Buddha's Universal Church for the Chinese Musical was a great joy. For those who missed the experience, the play runs through March 20th. You can get info at www.bucsf.org. Today we enjoyed the Hollywood Hat Presentation by Gloria Heidi. Gloria entertained us with music, an array of historic hats (including a couple of red ones) and plenty of history. Here is Gloria Virgie was our Queen for the day. Here she is with Vonne Anne And here is our group.... it seems we may have a few new members. Monday, January 24, 2005

The Royal Ladies and the Red Hat Roses of Vacaville invited us to their PJ Breakfast at Home Town Buffet. The food was so so but the company was great. Afterwards we enjoyed a private viewing of the Fockers. We observed plenty of admiration from a crowd that thought it rather remarkable that a couple hundred women would show up in public in PJs not only for breakfast but also for the movies. |
