Dorothy Parker once said: "There's a hell of a distance between wisecracking and wit. Wit has truth in it; wisecracking is simply calisthenics with words."
The lavender outside my door at Job # 1 was all abuzz today. Looking closely at the plant, there are many busy bees. I'll miss the scenery outside this office. Meanwhile, we scan, shred, pack... then scan, shred and pack some more. There's an overwhelming lot of stuff to be done. Big changes. Busy bees... busy me.
This one is almost embarrassing. Someone should report me to Clutter Busters. Just kidding. Had to move office stuff into storage spot until I finish up painting, cleaning carpets and moving in the new desk. Must remind myself, it's all temporary. But, one room leads to another. Wonder if I can fit my living room into this space.
The service at First Presbyterian was the first thing on the agenda today. Lately it's been hit or miss whether I'll show up there. Trying to be unobtrusive during the service, the photo is a bit off. I was focusing on the pipes. It's the best I can do for today's photo. The rest of the day was spent with paint brush and roller in hand. My office is finished except for a few touch ups and for painting at least one wall something other than white. That is if I find the energy.
I might be an approaching the amateur status. If not, then at least I'm trying and succeeded in getting in one photo each day this month. Not sure what I'd do without a smart phone since I don't always remember to take along the point and shoot. In all honestly, however, I'd have to admit that often the photos taken with the Galaxy S4 turn out better than the ones with the Samsung WB250F. Yes, I know... it's all about the one behind the camera.
Somehow I had it in my head that we used to observe Memorial Day on May 31st so I made a point to take this photo of the memorial crosses in Lafayette this morning. Since my memory often tricks me these days, I checked wikipedia and discovered the official date used to be the 30th. It all gets so confusing; this year we observed the day on the 26th.
This is the lunch spot for job #1... the job I have worked for 30 years (not always at this location however). Sad to note that this office will be shutting down soon and I'll be working from home. At least there will still be work for me so I shouldn't complain. Who knows, I might even find time to start writing that book.
Notice the tiny shopping cart emblem. These are glasses made out of recycled glass. Inspiration, including the emblem, was drawn from my oldest son. Those who know me, know the rest of the story.
The lunch spot for Job #2. Not real exciting view but it is rather peaceful on the deck. What can I say other than it was a busy day and I was too lazy to walk and look for photo opportunities. If I was just a bit taller I could have snapped the baby birds nesting up in the corner of the deck. Instead, I left a few bread crumbs behind for mama bird.
Picked up the new purple specs today. It was a tough decision but made much easier by the very helpful ladies at Diablo Valley Eye Medical Center. Dr Riedel has been there long enough that he treated my father and one of my best friends agrees... he is the best in the west.
Returning from the Music Festival, Grandma is too exhausted (mostly from the near 100 degree temperatures) to cook. Little J is demonstrating some helpful tips for chilling out as we wait for our dinner at a very crowded Back Forty BBQ. OMMMMMMMMMMMMM
