Not Much Doing

Just babysitting for the last four days... oh my what an excuse not to do bookkeeping work, payroll returns or sales tax returns. I've been bad too. Very bad. I have become a procrastinator. I did not do my own bookkeeping last year. Now I understand all those tax clients I used to have and their not wanting to face the chore.

Finally got the last three crowns glued in. So now my body really is worth a few cents more. Thars gold in dem dern teef.

Just wondering... why do phone bills come in upside down envelopes? Not just SBC, but also Nextel, AT&T, Cingular and who knows who else. Do they ALL?

You know those giant exercise balls? I used to have one about a year ago when I was trying all sorts of things out for my back. The cats popped it. At least I think that's what happened. I got home from work one day and there it was, flatter than a steam rolled elephant turd. The cats were hiding. Now I bought another one, this time because my Pilates trainer wanted me to have one. It is thicker than the old one. So far the cats have left it alone. But, Baby J thinks it's his.

Baby J also thinks my styrofoam roller and small Pilates ball and Pilates mat are his. Yesterday I caught him taking my five pound dumbells out from under the sofa. Okay, I'll admit it... he uses the stuff more than I do.

Baby J came into the gym today to meet my trainer. I saw him eying her equipment too, especially the Pilates reformer.

Baby J went to the shrink with us today too. I don't think he got anything out of the session... he fell asleep.

Tonight I get peace and quiet. Baby J is with his babysitter... oops I mean baby J is with his mom this evening. Hubby is out feeding slot machines. The cats are asleep on my favorite chair. The 3 pound box of See's candy and 1 pound box of Neldams cookies, and vanilla ice cream are safely tucked away in the kitchen. I'm not going to eat them. I'm not going to eat them. I'm not going to eat them.

All Is Well

Baby J is well. He was well when I got home from work yesterday. In fact when I got home, his uncle was teaching him how to throw a ball, like a boy. We think he might be a pitcher like his great grandpa.

Baby J's parents are better. Baby J went home. It sure is quiet around here. The cats are happy. Hubby is snoring. This tired body is off to bed.

And all will be well... sounds familiar... where did I hear that before???

Baby Barf

Baby J is sick. Very sick. His parents are sick. So, guess who is taking care of sick baby. Yesterday it was barf, barf and more barf. Temperature 102. So we cleaned up barf, gave baby bath, gave ourselves baths, begged baby to drink liquids between doses of baby tylanol, held him, cuddled him all night. The fever broke. Here I am at work, trying hard not to nod off. Grandpa is home with Baby J. They are both asleep. Something is not fair about all this...

Just to catch up

New Years Eve - quiet evening at home with Baby J and Uncle Keith. In bed by 9:30.

New Years Day - Party at sisters house. Ate all colors of vegetarian foods for luck... health, wealth, etc

January 2nd - Went to see Something's Gotta Give - I loved the movie. Husband very depressed. He can't understand why Jack Nicholson looks younger than he is and is 5 years older. When we left the theatre we had to climb two flights of stairs up to our car. I asked husband if he could make it up two flights of stairs. He tripped in the middle of the first flight.... see the movie, then you will understand.

January 3rd - see previous posts. Spent day trying to figure out why my links won't work. Meanwhile, I was sitting working on all this at noon, still in my flannel pajamas, when there was a knock on the door. I figured it was my neighbor lady so answered the door. It was my client, the veterinarian. He presented a 3 pound box of See's and a bag to me. He stood there kind of embarrassed, lost for words. I tried to make some small talk, extremely self conscious about standing there with the door open in my flannel pajamas. Finally I asked him in. He says, "well open the package, I want to see if you like it." So I did. It was a red hat. Not just an ordinary red hat but one that he had made especially for me by one of his clients. It is really cool... no that's the the word... it looks cool but it's warm and wooly. I wore it the rest of the day. Then there is the story behind the hat that Gerry was trying to tell me as I stood there, arms across my chest. I heard bits and pieces. The client is a seamstress. She has a dog. The dog swallowed a bunch of pins. Gerry had to operate and pull pins out with magnets. I forgot to ask if the dog lived.

Went to the movie again. Saw House of Sand and Fog. Went with my sister. Good movie, follows the book well, felt as though I had seen it before. Meanwhile, I was sitting there in my purple jacket and new red hat. There was a middle aged lady next to me. When we left, she pulled a red hat out of her pocket. She was wearing a purple sweater. I asked her if she was a red hatter. She looked at me kind of strange. I followed her out of the theatre trying to explain what a red hatter is, that I am Queen, and perhaps she would like to join us. She walked faster. My sister practically grabbed her by the arm and said, "do you think my sister is crazy? she's not, she really is a red hat queen." The woman bolted out of the theatre and down the street. I must look pretty scary in my new red hat.

Today: Got up early. Went to church. 3rd week in a row. Really like the giant pipe organ at this church in Oakland. Beginning to like the preacher too. I see another two hours of time to set aside every week now. Maybe I can give up one of the Sunday papers.

Okay, off to entertain the husband. The sun is out.

Links again

Oops it seems the only link that is working is the RHS Molls. Now I'm really confused. They are all set up the same. Somebody please help me.

Links

It seems that the link to Baby J's weblog is not working. Interesting since all my other links seem to work. Wonder what's up with Blogger. I get to his weblog when I use the link on my home page. Go figure. Well, try this just for the heck of it http://wittbits.blogspot.com/52588

Christmas and Stuff

Ahhh Christmas is over... almost... still need to get together with a few people and do the gift exchange thing. Anyway I got lots of cool gifts and enjoyed spending some extra time with the most precious gift of all, Baby J. His first Christmas was very exciting even though most of his gifts were clothes that he needed desperately as he is growing so fast... 10 months old and wearing 18-24 month clothes.

I got another gift that is creating somewhat of a problem. My son gave me a Neopet. Now I find that I must log on every day or Catatastrophe will starve to death. Of course one doesn't log on just to feed the poor thing. One must play games, win points, find extra food, tools, win battles... heck I don't know... I'm new at this pet business. So here is Catatastrophe:

Also found a tin of Neopet cards under the Christmas tree. I played one game with Chris. I won. I think he let me just so I'd play again. Now I find out that I must invest in several more packets of playing cards so I can build a better deck in order to win next time. At $3.50 per pack, let's see... what else could I do with $3.50... buy coffee and a treat anywhere but Strbcks, rent 90% of a video at Blckbster, buy an ice cream with one mix-in, have a fast food lunch with no beverage, feed the cats fancy feast for a week ... buy a new pair of socks... etc etc ... Somehow I think I'll find a pack of those darn cards in my shopping cart everytime I go to Target now. Solution... don't go to Target. But then where will I get my Diet Coke for $3 a 12 pack?

I have overindulged in chocolate fudge, See's candies, Mars Cheese Castle pasteries, Christmas cookies, Maple Sugar candy, chips, dip, crackers, Wisconsin cheese, ice cream cake... just grazing my way through the big baskets of goodies that are around here. Tomorrow morning I must weigh in since I have not done so yet this month. Just hope I don't have to pay $10 - it's getting close. New Years Resolution - I will start counting my Weight Watcher points again.

Oh yeah, remember the tooth ordeal? Here I am with 3 temporary crowns and 2 new crowns. I don't get the other crowns until January 12th. I'm not supposed to eat hard things or chews. Therefore on January 12th, I'll have to work on the Carmel Corn, Nuts and Chews, and Chocolate covered cashews.

One more thing about the teeth. Under the Christmas tree there was a mint scented small pillow. It can be placed in the microwave to relief stuffed up noses and things like that. My pillow lives in the freezer because everytime I eat one of those sweet items, my teeth hurt like h*ll. Am I dumb or what?

Well the best part of Christmas was the fact that the entire family got together, well not all at the same time exactly, and no one suffered any permanent injuries that I know of. Peace. That's all I asked for. I got some.

where did the year go?

I've neglected this blog again. It's the holidays. Excuses, excuses.

But what I neglected most of all was turning my computer on on December 14th to see the reminder message that I needed to post a Happy Birthday (or is it Anniversary?) message. The message should have been here, a message to Wittbits. Yes, this blog is now one year (and a few days) old.

So where have I been this year? I went back through a few entries. A year ago I started this blog just because I had heard about bloggers and decided I should be one. I had no idea what I'd put in the blog; I just wanted to be a presence in this world wide web of bloggers. It turns out that I have expressed a lot of frustrations as well as joys. Somewhere in there I mentioned that this could be a sort of dumping ground at times. I had hoped that it would be entertaining as well.

There have been some dead times. Times when I just couldn't make myself sit down and run the fingers across the keys. There will be dead times in this next year too. It seems to have come to a mixture of brief inspirations and braindumps of frustrations. Well I never promised myself or anyone else that this would be anything other than a glimpse into the life of a grandma in the second half of her life.

For those of you have stuck with me, or just recently discovered me and might hang around, Thank You.

Happy Holidays to all. I must go write my Christmas cards now.

The Wreath

Okay here's a picture of the wreath Cat and I made on Sunday in honor of the Red Hat Society
